51 Fabricators switch to Selecta
As the stream of poor economic news makes the headlines almost daily it’s no
surprise that companies are taking a second look at their suppliers. After all, the right supplier can make the difference
between success and failure.
Nowhere is this more obvious than the window industry, which has its own challenges
in addition to economic factors. More now than ever fabricators need a
systems company prepared to invest in product development, excellent service and
tangible support, and as some systems companies struggle to live up to this expectation
fabricators are forced to consider new suppliers.
Selecta may have not been the first supplier on fabricators minds, but with 51 companies switching to Selecta during 2008 any old perceptions are changing rapidly.
Mark Richmond, Selecta’s sales director, explains why; “Over the last 25 years Selecta
has evolved from a small extruder supplying start-up fabricators into a major
systems company with world-class products. We’ve been through the boom and
bust of the 1980’s and 1990’s and have continued to invest - in the last 12 months
alone this amounts to around £2.5 million.”
Some of this investment is easy to see; as you drive around the Selecta-owned 9 acre
site you can’t miss the new £800,000 mixing plant. But, as Mark comments, others are
less visible, “We have invested in other facilities – such as a new composite door line
and new delivery trucks, all purchased outright by Selecta. However, we’ve also
grown our team and brought in new personnel to strengthen our customer service
and technical departments.”
At a time when some systems companies are cutting investment and making redundancies,
Selecta has enjoyed 16% growth in new business in the last year. Mark
concludes “We make it easy for fabricators to switch, right down to a tailored
machinery package if necessary.”
