Prescot Door and Window Centre look to the future with Selecta
There is no escaping it – the window industry is evolving. Not only is it likely that
amendments to Part L of the Building Regulations will state a WER ‘C’ rating will
be the minimum requirement for all new and replacement windows from October,
the voluntary commitment Vinyl 2010 is looking to phase out all lead-based
stabilisers by 2016 in an eort to make all buildings more thermally ecient and
eco-friendly.
So how are window manufacturers dealing with these changes? One fabricator,
Merseyside based Prescot Door and Window Centre recently converted to
Advance 70 - the leading window and door system from Selecta Systems- ensuring
their windows are both lead-free and able to achieve the BFRC energy ratings.
Lee Draycott, MD of Prescot Door and Window Centre explains “Many of the
prole systems available today were designed several years ago and are struggling
to deal with the demands of the modern market. By switching to Advance
70, we have ensured our products are future proof and able to comply with the
tightened regulations.”
Advance 70 is a full ve chambered system for all major frames, including sashes.
The German-engineered, British-made prole is also totally lead-free, using
calcium organic stabilisers some 6 years ahead of the Vinyl 2010 deadline.
Selecta’s Sales Director, Mark Richmond, comments “fabricators need a window
system that will allow them to achieve at least a ‘C’ rating before the likely Part L
amendments come into force. The ve chamber design of Advance 70 makes it
easy for fabricators to surpass this and even achieve an ‘A’ rating. Also, because
our proles are lead free, windows made with Advance 70 can be completely
recycled at the end of their working life, enhancing our customers’ ‘green’ credentials.”
Customer service makes the dierence
Not only does Selecta provide Prescot Door and Window Centre with a technologically
advanced window system, their customer service has also made a real
dierence. Lee Draycott explains. “Selecta always go the extra mile for us. Their
deliveries are always on time and in full and they even reached us during the
recent exceptionally bad weather, ensuring we could carry on manufacturing
with minimum disruption despite the snow piling up outside. We also benet
from the full breadth of Selecta’s product range, including their superb composite
doors and extensive range of foiled nishes.”
Selecta’s Sales Director Mark Richmond concludes “Customer service paramount
at Selecta. We have recently introduced six new foils to our in-house range and
our customers really appreciate the shorter lead times. It’s a very competitive
market and we ensure all our customers have the tools they need to succeed.”
